EB872 Evaluation Board

In order to get started today in developing your own Acalis Secure Processor based system, CPU Tech has made available an evaluation and prototype vehicle in the EB872 Evaluation Board. This system is available today, and is part of a low cost package to enable your development group to get started on Acalis-based development immediately.

Test and Development Platform

The Acalis EB872 Evaluation Board is a platform used to validate the performance and usability of the Acalis CPU872 Secure Processor, and evaluate the capabilities of its dual PowerPC® 440 processing subsystems. When used with the Acalis Software Development Kit (SDK), users can communicate with both processor subsystems through a Secure Intellectual Property (SIP) core implemented in the accompanying Xilinx Virtex-5 LXT FPGA. While the SDK uses a standard Ethernet connection to implement its management interface, all sensitive communications between the host and target are encrypted and thus secure. Two additional Ethernet connections are used to directly connect the individual PPC440 subsystems to a network.

Block Diagram and Technical Feature Set

The block diagram below shows the technical feature set of the EB872. Major components include the CPU872 Secure Processor, one Xilinx Virtex-5 LXT FPGA, two DDR slots, two embedded flash memories for the FPGA and secure processor bit stream / image storage, compact flash interface, three Ethernet interfaces, and a JTAG debug header.
Board interfaces include three Ethernet interfaces: two for open user access, and once for secure management with the Acalis Software Development Kit. Also included are 4 CPU Tech ‘ExpressLink’ connectors, One PCIe Gen 1 connector, one 128-bit expansion header, two ‘serial over RJ45 connectors’, and one 38-bit matched impedance MICTOR debug connector for software debug.
